here's to hoping that Disney & Pixar never split up

I finally watched Up last night, and I have to admit that this part of the movie had me crying like a wee babe. If you haven't seen this yet, you should--it's a really sweet little story.

s/s handbag search

I'm feeling the need for a new, more casual handbag to carry this spring & summer. Since I've been carrying this non-stop since Christmas, I can't really go back to carrying fakey handbags. This Kooba bag that I found a couple of years ago immediately popped into my head:

But, of course, there are none for sale ANYWHERE! How is that even possible?
I started looking around, and I want something kind of classic, but still young (I am in my 20s, after all) and slightly edgy. I ran across the designer Treesje (whom I had never heard of before a couple of days ago) and I found these three bags which became my finalists:
I like the nude color of this one, and I love the lines and the zipper detailing. It's also a pretty good size, which is necessary on a day-to-day basis, and for my upcoming trip to Boston!

I love the lilac shade of this handbag--it would be a nice addition to my mostly black wardrobe without being out of character. I also love the shape and the hardware.

And, this is my final choice. I LOVE the steely blue and the pintucking. I also like that it has a shoulder strap and the option to carry it by hand.

Emma Watson + Burberry = a very good thing
Some of the handbag placements in these ads seem a little forced, but overall I love this campaign. Emma Watson is just beautiful, and the styling is great. I am loving that lilac trench coat. Just like I loved this purple Burberry trench last fall...

hydrangeas

I fell in love with hydrangeas when I was walking precincts in Monterey during the 2004 elections.
lilacs

Probably my absolute favorite. My grandmother used to have a huge hedge of lilacs that my mom and her siblings would play in so much that they hollowed "rooms" out in the hedge. My cousins and I played in them years later. I wish I could find a nice perfume with lilacs as a top note.
daffodils

My birth flower : ) I feel like daffodils have so much personality. Aftermath of Disney's Alice in Wonderland?

In honor of the fact that my girlfriend just had a beautiful baby girl, and the fact that another one of my girlfriends is due in August, I have decided to share these pictures (plus one video) of adorable and fashionable children. Enjoy!

"You will have to know life," she declared, and her voice trembled with earnestness. She took hold of George Willard’s shoulders and turned him about so that she could look into his eyes. A passer-by might have thought them about to embrace. "If you are to become a writer you’ll have to stop fooling with words," she explained. "It would be better to give up the notion of writing until you are better prepared. Now it’s time to be living. I don’t want to frighten you, but I would like to make you understand the import of what you think of attempting. You must not become a mere peddler of words. The thing to learn is to know what people are thinking about, not what they say."

spring fever

Photobucket

This is very different from my spring look last year which was very neutral basics with very edgy accessories. I'm definitely embracing my more feminine side this spring & summer with lacy skirts and tops, pops of pink, and floral accessories. Now, if only the weather would allow me to wear ANY of this right now...
gold clover hoop earrings: my mom & I found these at Costco. I've been looking for some gold hoops that are a little more interesting than just basic gold hoops, and I love these. ($100)
raspberry deep v-neck tee: american apparel. my favorite basic tee. ($22)
embroidered hairpin lace skirt: 3.1 Phillip Lim: nordstrom. so classic and flirty and "i'm going to spend the summer in venice" ($450)
aubree trench coat: urban outfitters. such a classic piece. this one is perfect for me as i'm supposed to avoid anything double-breasted ($98)
dogwood cocktail ring: j.crew. i love this in black. i love this in black--it makes it stand out that much more ($65)
flutter-flower clutch: j.crew. oooohhhh this is too sweet and perfect! what could be better for spring than a clutch that looks like you're walking around carrying a bunch of flowers? ($128)
lace v-neck tee: free people. i love how this is so lacy and feminine, yet cut so relaxed like my favorite v-neck tee ($88)
BIMINNI sandal: steve madden. so glamorous ($80)
denim cut-off short: j.crew. because i have none ($80)
decorum & daring one-piece: anthropologie. i love how classic this is and the ruffle is just oh-so feminine. plus, the back plunges rendering it oh-so sexy.
essie nail colors: mint candy apple & neo-whimsical
